Arguments about money are usually arguments about security, respect, or fairness wearing a financial costume.

Know the baseline

In Islamic law, provision for the household is the husband’s responsibility, and a wife’s own wealth remains her own. Knowing this removes a surprising amount of resentment before it starts.

Build a shared picture

1. List income, fixed costs, and debts openly once a month.
2. Agree a limit above which no purchase happens without a conversation.
3. Name the goals you are saving toward, including zakat and hajj.

Debt and dignity

Debt is permitted and repayment is a serious obligation. Interest-based borrowing is not the way out of a shortfall; a plan, restraint, and du’a are.
